Bike

Bike activities include mountain bike ride, road ride, and gravel grinder.

Kettle Crest Mountain Bike Ride

Hosted by Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance — East Chapter.

Starting from the Jungle Hill Campground, the trail goes up to Sherman Pass and north on the Kettle Crest. After wrapping around Columbia Mountain, riders enjoy a high-speed, rocky descent that benches across the steep hillside.

From there it’s just one more quick pedal to the top of Jungle Hill (make sure to take a right after the campsite). Then drop your seat post for a four mile, 2,100-foot descent right back into camp. A classic, high-speed Forest Service trail, this section sees few tracks, leaving it smooth and rut free—but can strain face muscles from smiling the whole way down.

Total Distance: 14 mi

Total Vertical: 4,000 ft

Location: Jungle Hill Campground (bring your own rig or get a ride with a buddy, there is plenty of parking!)

Ride Starts: 10:00 AM sharp, Saturday, June 29

What to Bring: Capable mountain bike, plenty of water, food for the trail, extra tubes/patch/repair kit, clothes for changing weather conditions

Road Ride

Hosted by People On Wheels (POW)

Road bike ride 25 miles around Curlew Lake.

When: Saturday, 9:30 AM

Where: meet up at the Ferry County Fairgrounds Carousel Building

The Sherman Loop Hike is an intermediate hike: six miles round-trip, including 1,200 feet elevation gain. Plan on a 4-5 hour excursion, depending on pace and breaks, and an additional hour of driving to the trailhead. Be sure to pack the “ten essentials,” snacks and plenty of water and be prepared to practice the Seven Principles of Leave No Trace.
